Hello.
I have 2 servers working on Opensuse 10.2 using Samba.
I want the following task (write a small pdf report in order to explain to me how can I do this)
I want to configure one of them to serve as a spare server for the replication of tables of the database which I use.
For example
1st server (main server) is found at 192,168,1,3 and I have created a shared folder e.g MysharedFolder
2st server (replication server) will be found at [login to view URL] and I want every file (table) changed from main server (1st server) saved on this according to a replication process.
I use 1st server (OpenSuse 10.2) and Samba in order to share a folder to 10-15 Windows PCs (many versions Windows XP,Windows 7,Windows 10)
In each Window-based PC , I have mapped the network drive eg. Z:\\MYSHAREDFOLDER in order to give access to the programs stored in Desktop
Want I want to do
Without modifying 1st server, create sth like an automated process to synchronize the files/folders in the spare Linux PC Server
Why I want to do this
There is a strong possibility of Hard Disk Drive or PC failure, thus I want a replication server in order to fix it. Then, the only thing I want to do is Map the new network folder e.g X:\MYSHAREDFOLDERSPARE and keep working
Please reply to me and do not hesitate to ask for more details
Hi,
This requires just a single rsync command.. if you say replication, people will think about some high profile tools. But for your requirement, rsync is enough.
Thanks
Hi
File Replication between your both Linux servers can be easily achieved by using lsyncd. I can assist in configuring this for you to ensure real time file syncronization of the Shared folder from 1st server to 2nd.
Please message me to dicsuss it in details.
Hi Sir,
I will setup your linux server in order to do the file replication , anytime a change in the directory happens , it will update the repository on the replicating server.
I will be glad to discuss more in the chat
Cheers,

I have experience in storage management and replciation.
I have done replication setup for financial institutions using Veritas Cluster server and drbd replication.
I will need more details about your setup before i can finalize the solution.
Please discuss with me.
Hi, greetings
I have done this thousand times. But I will suggest you do not use windows.
Instead use both at linux. Do not use samba. Use rsync.
I will work with you to solve your problem
Message me so that we can discuss more.

Hi! i got your idea. We can use program called rsync on this case. Rsync is an opensuse compatible program that allows us to do mirroring for ftp server, which is suitable for your needs. If you interested in, let me know in the chat. Have a nice day!
Hi,
I know at least 2 options how to do that. Will be happy to work with you in this project.
We can use application like rsync to do synchronisation every X hours( or minutes)
We can use opensorce backup software to do a hourly incremental copy of your files and have an option to restore it on the same server of have access to backups from windows 10 over HTTP
Decision is up to you.
