I am by trade a full-time photographer and designer, with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Photography. This year I have also been on the judging panel for the 'Championnat De France De Photo 2017', an open photographic contest held in France. I feel my background in photography, both educationally in an art context, and also as a full-time practitioner has given me a good 'eye' when it comes to choosing photographs - I have helped photographers curate their own exhibitions, aiding in the selection and arrangement process. My skills in book design range from designing book covers, to the complete design and layout of photographic books themselves. The example most relevant to this project would be a monograph I designed as a sort of 'retrospective' for a dealer in fine art, but I have also designed more 'album' style books for private clients. I would propose to submit different examples of layout style for your book in order that we can agree the best way to move forward with the project. This would also include any aspects of the book that you required me to design, and also the best way to consistently include the necessary information alongside each image. I am a very organised and methodical worker when it comes to arranging and categorising content, which I feel is essential to this project given the numbers of images involved. I would show you the final pick of images long before I even started laying out the book, and would be happy to justify my editorial decisions.
