The individual project is an academic paper based on the thorough understanding of the course literature and ability to apply it to a broad topic related to Internet marketing. There are 4 topics to choose from: 1) Why strong social presence magnifies brand weaknesses and how international brand managers can address this? 2) What are the practical implications of the shift from the product/selling logic to value adding via branding logic? 3) How has the internet changed consumers over the past 10 years and how can marketers best adapt? 4) Free topic. The length of the paper is 3000 words as a maximum.
Please, note that you can either address the topic as it is or formulate a more precise question WITHIN the topic. There are many ways of approaching this project. You might focus on a particular firm or examine one or several examples of firms active on Internet as regards their ways to treat their customers and other stakeholders, build brands, etc. Whichever way you choose to approach the assignment, be clear in the way you use the key concepts such as �Internet marketing�, �social media�, �brand�, etc as not all authors understand these concepts in the same way. The individual project should be based on at least 10 academic articles (not limited to the course list). It should be written in accordance with the academic standards as regards its purpose, theoretical framework, analysis, conclusions and references. Besides, the key words and abstract are required for each paper. All submitted papers will be published on a special digital platform and make available for the external audience. The paper accounts for 40% of the total grade. Deadline is 15/02/14.

Many of you have started thinking about your individual paper. As you know, your papers will be published on our student paper blog after getting their grade. This means that it has to be optimized for search. I have attached the template that you will have to fill in (the table on page 2) AFTER you have written the actual paper. It is in PDF form now, I will attach the WORD as well.
Please, read the more detailed information regarding topics and word limit/deadline in the Course Plan.
1) The word limit is 3000 words but you might decide to write less, which is OK. If you decide to write the full length, divide your paper in 2 parts for a better posting. The optimal size of the blog post is 1000-1500 words.
2) I will look for some good examples of creative academic papers. Many HBR papers are of this type. Creative papers are written as a story, backed up by some evidence from the research.
3) On the 15th of February you will submit a) your paper b) the filled template. Each document should have a unique name (yours + paper; yours+template) for identification.
4) Some of you wanted more recent papers in the reading list - please, check the latest issue of the Journal of Interactive Marketing, 2013. It has good articles on all our topics. However, for a bigger picture see the older articles.
