We are starting a local newspaper in Johannesburg, South Africa. I need a person with newspaper/magazine sub editing/proofreading skills. An excellent command of the English language is a starting point. 2. The person must have a sense of humour. The people who will write for our newspaper, will be mostly 'i-reporters or some of the people from the club. Some will have some journalistic or writing skills, most will have zero. 3. I need a person who will have to sometimes re-write the article, and sometimes just correct the grammar ect, without losing the factual basis. The sport and music events that we cover, will be on local club and amateur level. So we deal with the bottom of the scale and on top of it, South African club sport is badly organised.
We will run the whole newspaper on a free and volunteer basis, with an extremely low budget. But at least do we want the articles to be factually correct, well edited and readable. The articles might have been written in a specific style, but i need someone who can sell ice to an esimo, someone who can bring live to an unglamorous sport. It must be funky, sometime 'tongue in the cheeck, sometime humorous. The person also need to give 'guidance to the writers, with basic feedback.' so in a way i need a magician combined with a modern day miracle worker, who want to have fun, but help to establish a new exciting new brand.
Shortly I need someone who can commit at least for a year on a very low budget and be able to help us grow..and when our onlne newspaper do grow, I will remeber you in my will. Maybe there is a retired newspaper editor out there, for whom money is not that important or a young dynamic person who is bright and would help us establish something nice for local sport people and South African artists and mucisians.
So please give me a proposal how and on what financial terms u can help us. Our currency, the rand is always weak against t dollar...but i like using gaf, having done 7 projects on gaf already. So the budget is low. Expectations high, but please help us doing it for an honest buck. Thanks I'm waiting for the offer to stream in. Obviosly will we need to do it on an ongoing daily, weekly monthly basis, depending on the number of articles..the lenght 50 word to 300...but sometimes bit longer...
