Conduct a preliminary slope stability analysis on the Lawrence Vale Landslide in Launceston for understanding the processes associated with the landslide and designing appropriate measures to prevent or mitigate the landslide. This should include a geotechnical model to be developed for the Lawrence Vale landslide, probabilistic and sensitive limit equilibrium analysis, and a finite element analysis with shear strength reduction. The geotechnical model should be developed following MRT's and others' investigation of the stratigraphy, groundwater conditions and material strength on the landslide and surrounding areas. The validity of your proposed geotechnical model should be justified on the basis of a brief desk top review. The probabilistic and sensitive analyses should be conducted for key slope and material parameters, i.e. geometry, material strength and groundwater.

for this project you are required to conduct the slope stability analysis of the Lawrence Vale landslide in Launceston at the concept to prefeasibility design levels. As such you are required to clearly demonstrate the logic involved in reaching your conclusions. Engineering calculations are required where you feel they are necessary to demonstrate that what you propose is reasonable
