I need a circuit design to charge a lithium ion mobile battery(1500mAh 4.2V). The circuit should be able to be controlled by a microcontroller. hi, i am an electrical engineer and i can design your project as i already have designed the battery chargers controlled by PIC microcontrollers. the charger will show the battery status(battery voltages), charging indication and automatically stop charging when a required amount voltage present. I hold Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics. You can see on my profile that I have successfully finished a similar project recently. I would conceive this circuit around isolated BUCK switching converter. Isolation from mains voltage is of paramount importance because it is necessary to protect battery and micro-controller from high voltage. The question is only what degree of control do you want micro-controller to have over this charging circuit? Is it only to turn it on and off, or does it need to have control over voltage and current regulation? For this price, I am offering design of a circuit schematic and PCB designed in Altium Designer.

I have a 100% tested schematic ready for charging 3.7/4.2V Li-Ion battery. It can be modified with minor changes to interface & controlled using a microcontroller of your choice. The schematic also features an LED status indicator for charging status indication. The schematic has been designed to be powered using 5V DC supply. Your load circuit would be powered by 4.2V when external power is present and simultaneously charges the Li-Ion battery. When the main power is absent, it automatically switches to battery power (4.2V). An additional option to control this circuit using external microcontroller can be provided (although not required) can be provided.
