I want that in that case It closes the other pane (the one that is *not* focused)

I'm already a C developer and desktop Linux user, so wont be a problem solving this one for you, It's a habit of mine making software patches for personal taste, so it's a thing that a have some experience in doing. The Qt framework is very well documented, but I think KDE is made in C++, but this wont be a problem. If you are interested in any more changes in Dolphin behavior and or are interested in accepting my bid, just contact me. Also, if you want, I can prepare the install packages for you, and or make some way of auto-update Dolphin with the patch, such as a script or a PPA, so you will not have to manually apply the patch and compile and etc, otherwise, you will lose the patched binary in every upgrade. But again, is up to you.
