Innovation proposal for public libraries

Identify an innovation you would like to see introduced within a library setting (public, academic, school or special) of your choice. In a well organized paper: • Describe the strategy you would use to initiate the innovation. Good, sound reasoning should be evident to the reader. References should be made to management literature, where appropriate. • Define the personal requirements for this innovation. • Describe how this activity fits within the philosophy of the library you have chosen. • Provide an analysis of how much it will cost to implement this activity. You need to include a complete first year budget proposal and provide a summary of the five-year incremental cost projections. Some of the essential parts of this assignment include: • Defining the institutional mission and philosophy of service. • Preparing job descriptions for any new required personnel, and indicating changes in the role of staff currently employed • Describing the marketing strategy for alerting the institution’s principal clients as well as including a well-written press release which can announce the establishment of the innovation you have selected. The press release should not be more than one (1) page in length. You will need to examine some of the following works to determine a suitable organization that might provide funding for this project.
