Organization needs database designed which allows for the tracking of radios, keys and other items lent out to staff. Details:
- Currently using free Microsoft Access Template with few tweaks - you can see at [login to view URL]
- System works and is great but Access is not consistent and there are far too many errors.
- Need similar system designed, from scratch, probably in different language which can ensure data validity - must be able to see without a doubt who has what, who had what etc. Access does not record all transactions so there is missing data.
- System design must be so it can make changes very easy and fast, we have to lend out items to crowds of 40-80 in matter of minutes.
- Basically need list of employees and details, list of items and details, items are lent out, need to be able to see what is lent out, when, to who etc. Study access template above as it is perfect, few tweaks will be needed which can be discussed.

I have done at least a dozen systems just like this one in the past 9 months. You are correct, in a high workload / multi-user environment, MS Access is not the best choice for the development environment or the DB backend. Please see private message for more details.

I could do it with a Windows Presentation Foundation interface and a Microsoft SQL Express Database. Being a desktop application, this means that there will be one computer where the application will reside. I could do it in ASP.NET or Silverlight and this would mean that every user from the company will be able to access the application. The drawback is that IIS 7 would be needed.
Based on Vancouver Island, we built Asset Management software about 12 years ago (Cover Your Assets). It is a VB app that will need to be updated. Nothing wrong with Access 2007 as an Engine just do not use it as an interface.
