Book Proofreading and / or Editing

My first project as a proofreader\editor was a historical romance novel ‘Love Continuance and Increasing’, which is set in Britain during the Napoleonic Wars. As well as proofreading the manuscript, I also acted as a ‘Brit-picker’ for the author – double-checking her use of British English, to make sure that it flowed smoothly. The book was published last month. My latest project was a Master’s thesis (over 40,000 words) on the subject of Professional Role Play in a business context, which was a very interesting read, and also quite challenging from an editing point of view. I am used to proofreading longer manuscripts (as mentioned, the thesis was over 40,000 words long, and the newly-published novel was 77,000), so I would have no difficulty in staying focused during the proofreading of your book. I normally work in MS Word, using tracked changes for my edits, so you can be confident that I know my way around the software that you have used to create the manuscript. I am quick and accurate in my work, and I also take a genuine interest in a wide variety of subject matters, so I would likely genuinely enjoy working on this manuscript.
