I have 85 pages with links that need to be updated. Basic html skill is needed. Familiarity with embeding flash players is a plus but not critical.
The job requires finding where an mp3 file is by looking at a list in an excell sheet, then insert the address to it in the html of the page. Repeat 85 times. Each file address is diferent and that is why it has to be done manually.

These pages (called nodes) contain html code that we transfered from another site. Since the folder structure has changed diferently for each page their links need to be manually updated. The specific links go to mp3 files.
Also, in the new site the folder has changed and "/files/old-directory/" is added before all links. And the whole address needs to be added. The end result is that a link with simply "[login to view URL]" becomes "/files/old-directory/p/analyst_workshop/3dec03/[login to view URL]"
The steps to finding the correct mp3 link and how to insert it are as follows: find where the mp3 is located and its name, then insert the address to it in the html of the page.
Step 1) Find Directory:
Pick a page number and then check the excell sheet (provided in zip file) to find what directory that page came from in the old site. So if it's node 314, look for node/314 in the excell sheet. You will see that it says
p/analyst_workshop/3dec03/[login to view URL] => node/314
So the new directory is
/files/old-directory/p/analyst_workshop/3dec03/.
Step 2) Determine mp3 filename:
Look in this directory on the server (via ftp), and see what the
mp3 file is named. In this case it's 1.mp3. This name is pretty common.
If there are several mp3s in the directory, then it could either be that the page has several links to several mp3's or that there will be an xml file in the directory too. If there is an xml file then make a note of it in the excell sheet and get more instructions from us on how to deal with it.
Step 3) Fix HTML:
Now that you know the directory and filename of the mp3, fix the HTML code of the page. Go to the page and click edit. You have to put the mp3 path in two places:
<param name="movie" value="/files/Flash/[login to view URL]">
should become
<param name="movie" value="/files/Flash/[login to view URL]">
<embed src="/files/Flash/[login to view URL]"
should become
<embed src="/files/Flash/[login to view URL]"
Step 4) Test the audio works on the page. Look for any damaged html, broken links, strange looking layouts or missing images (there shouldn't be any, but just in case). If you can, fix it. If not, record the node and problem in the excell sheet.
