Since the scanner head of a scanner is a very precise stepper motor I would like to be able to control the movement of the scanner head using TWAIN, WIA, HP's Scanner Control Language, or any other low level method. Instead of reverse engineering the hardware and interfacing directly with the stepper motors I would like to use the existing control system. My hope is that someone with expertise in writing TWAIN or similiar drivers knows of a way to control the position of the scanner head. That way an old scanner can be reused in a robotics projects with a minimal amount of work. So I'm looking for code to move the scanner head to a specific position. It is also required that the scanner head be able to stop at a position for a specific time period and then moved to another position.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

I'm sorry, I was not specific enough with my requirements for this project. I'm looking for more of an OS driver to control a scanner head than a microcontroller based solution. I did not realize that there was microcontroller expertise available on [url removed, login to view] so I will keep that in mind. I do work on several microcontroller projects that it would be nice to get help with in the future. But for this project I'm trying to do something different. Here is the revised description and I'm sorry for the confusion:
