This project involves updating a filemaker 5.5 database to improve functionality and to fix a few things that have never worked right. The client is a Juvenile Drug Court, and the database is designed to manage the caseload (about 40 active cases at a time). The system is as follows:
Probation officers make an initial report which is entered into the main database on a network. Later, treatment caseworkers fill in a separate report on a smaller stand-alone treatment database which is then uploaded into the main database. Periodically, both probation officers and treatment caseworkers fill out urinalysis forms which are not currently transmitted for digital upload into the database, but are entered by hand. All told, each client gets a new record each week containing that week's probation, treatment, and urinalysis data.
As for what comes out of the database, it is used to produce two forms: a Court Order containing treatment and probation data and a staffing form containing all collected data.
As noted, this database is presently in filemaker 5.5. It is desired to upgrade to filemaker 10 (we have already purchased licenses for this software) and to streamline functionality and interface, and to clean up the output reports so that they print cleanly. On reception of a tentative bid we can provide you with an empty copy of the database, as sensitive data is involved.
