Features we need on the CD: - Web browser with basic javascript support. - Email client. - FTP Server and FTP client. - IRC client. - Network configuration pannel. To allow either the user to configure his own local IP, or to get the IP from a DHCP server. A PPPoE dialler would be quite usefull too for user who would have only a direct DSL connection. - Software to backup DVD movie to DiVX - Media Player to read DiVX, MP3, and few other multimedia format - Software to backup game on the HDD, and play them from the HDD - Software to cheat on games, and to add cheat code. - USB keyboard recognition. (plug and play) - USB mouse recognition (plug and play) - USB hub recognition. The Harddrive can be used to install anything, but at the beginning, all the stuff must be on the CD, since we don't want to supply an HD with the CD. Most of theses features are already available from the HDLoader, the Action Replay Max Evo and Linux for PS2. To protect the CD, we would like to provide a special USB Hub with it. Our USB Hub would allow to connect more than two USB device, but it would have also a small identification/protection chip. When the CD boot, it would need to check if our USB Hub (with the protection chip) is plugged. The protection doesn't have to be sophisticated like a controler that would complet the processing of the software, but it must be more than only USB Hub recognition, otherwise copy of our CD would work with any kind of USB Hub. And with our USB Hub, user would be able to plug usb web cam, usb printer, usb scanner, usb memory stick, usb mp3 player, etc etc.. Sky is the limit :) (with good coder :) )
