Convert simple Joomla 1.5 plugin to work with Joomla 1.7

I am upgrading my personal website from Joomal [url removed, login to view] to Joomla 1.7.
It is obvious that I will need some help to do this.
Firstly I need a coder to convert a very simple plugin to work with Joomla 1.7.
The plugin is 'called' from the article and prints the article title, and the date the article was accessed or viewed.
I enter the article author and date the article was published manually.
A simple JavaScript is used to write the article title and date the web page was accessed.
The zipped file contains the xml file- only a few lines and the php file.
Also attached are the URLs of the working site and the URL of the test site. The call function is shown on the test site.
I have tried to upgrade this myself. No problem with the XML file 2 mins. However I cannot find how to tackle the few lines of basic javscript. Apparentlt 1.6 and 1.7 tackle javascript differently. Perhaps each line needs to go on an external page? I have tried adding Joomla before the code.
