Database implementation for software sales analysis
$100-500 USD
Paid on delivery
Our company conducts research and analysis on the video games industry. Every month, we receive datasets in a defined Excel format that contain monthly sales figures for each title and available platform, including both units and dollar amounts. We have used an Excel PivotTable to manage this data, but the dataset has finally exceeded what can be directly managed in an Excel worksheet. We wish to convert to an Access-based database system. There are X mandatory features of this new system: 1. Automated data importing. The system must be able to take an Excel file, in a predefined format, and import the dataset with a minimum amount of manual involvement. There are challenges with the data each month, as new software titles are release each month and titles sometimes have minor spelling changes from one month to the next. 2. Software title management. For every software title in the database, we need to be able to 'tag' those titles with additional metadata (publisher, developer, game rating, etc.) The management of this information will require one or more forms to make it easier to maintain. 3. Publisher and developer management. Every software title should be associated with a software publisher and a software developer, each of which has a different set of metadata. 4. PivotTable export. We do a large amount of slice-and-dice analysis on the dataset, such as calculating sales totals for a particular title or publisher or developer. The data contained in the Access file must be structured in such a way that it can be used as a datasource for Excel PivotTable analysis. Additional details will be documented after selection of a coder, on in response to questions during the bidding process.
