I'm currently working on a maze game engine at [login to view URL] The game engine will create a 3-dimensional world based on a 2-dimensional floorplan. Therefore, I'm looking for someone to create a function that will find a set of segments in the game world that are visible from a certain point when a viewer is looking in a certain direction. This will probably involve creating a class similar to the following SegmentManager class: struct Segment { float x0, y0; float x1, y1; } class SegmentManager { SegmentManager(vector segments); vector findvisible(float x0, float y0, float dirx, float diry, float fov); } The SegmentManager constructor just initializes the class with the segments. The findvisible function takes the viewer position (x0, y0), the direction he/she is facing (dirx, diry), and the field of view (fov). It then returns all of the segments that the viewer can see. It should not return any less or any more. For efficiency, you may discard segments that are beyond a certain distance away. That means that if the viewer can technically see some segment, but it is a million miles away, it doesn't need to appear. If you do discard far away segments, the discarding distance should be configurable. There are two important criteria I'd like satisfied - it should work completely correctly, and it should be fast. It should work at least as fast as it is now - I need it redone because it currently requires a significant and time-consuming compilation step. Making it fast is probably tricky, but hopefully someone out there is up to the challenge. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Windows
