Using an Arduino I need to read bytes 12 to15 of an incoming 17 byte hex string into a variable, and convert this to ASCII. I have a larger scope for anyone who can tackle this one for me.

You need: a type of de-serialze data; extract three bytes from data stream and combine them. Then convert to ASCII (may a string to represent its value). As I do this type of work many times, you can get working code in an hour.
