I have studied the architecture and use of iconography in churches and religious documents, and in particular, the vaunted aesthetic of Gothic cathedrals, and Books of Hours and other Illuminated Manuscripts, which I feel really capture the wonder and inspiration that religion can provide for people. If selected, I would create a mural which took inspiration from that graphical tradition, but with an aesthetic that will also relate to more contemporary aesthetics, and appeal to younger members of the congregation, without losing the rich history of the church.
