hi. I've 2 years experience working with C#. I have already built applications using databases (MySQL, MS-SQL, MS-Access etc) and I have also built applications to utilize CSV, Text and Excel files. I can create a database for you and also an application which will pick all the records from the CSV or Text file and store them into the database. Hello, Well, I did get a great practical experience with SQL databases (mostly with MS SQL Server and SQLite), so I could utilize some of my code snippets and ready-to-use code blocks for your project as well. Regards to this particular project... The database could be pretty simple for now. So there should be a table tblCategory with some category ID as a primary key and the table, say, tblRawRecord with records referenced to these IDs (may be different implementation). Then, a simple SQL request could extract/search all raw records for a specified category(categories). The table tblCategory will be populated in the process of the loading/inserting if these textual raw records into the database. There will be checking for unique of a category name during the process of loading. Ok, it's brief description only, we could discuss more details after start the actual work for this project. More things will be more clear after we design/implement the database schema. By the way, it sounds very interesting for me if we could continue our collaboration for your further tasks/projects. I can help you in normalizing and categorizing shared data in the database and you can have form for maintaining data and also related reports of it. Hi, Though I'm an occasional freelancer, but what I do, I do it with utmost passion. I'm programming since my age of 13. I'm a First Class First Computer Engineer and have participated in numerous programming contests. Algorithm is one of my area of interest. I don't freelance for money, because I am a faculty member in a university and I teach algorithms and database management. Some things need to be clarified: 1. Which database system do you require to be used - MySQL or SQL Server? 2. Do you want it as a web application or desktop application? 3. Do you require to build a front-end for the system, or just an API? 4. How would I assign a category to the records with no category? Your attached link does not clarify it. 5. How do you want the normalization? As an OLAP (analytical) or OLTP (transactional). As I found in the data file, Name and Zip has Many to One cardinality, Zip and Locality has Many to One cardinality and Name to Categories Has One to Many cardinality. What do you think of the following table schemas? 1. Categories(cat_id, cat_name) 2. Zips(zip, locality) 3. Locality(name, zip) 4. Records(name, cat_id) If you expect to search the records using the category as the key, then I think these schemas should do the job faster than any other.
