Romance Comedy
---Book to have Something About Mary/Wedding Crashers comedy
Here is a very rough draft of what I want:
Main character is a handsome, charismatic and funny man who is in his hay day when it comes to women. He is hitting the bar scene hard, and every weekend is waking up with a new women in his bed; some of them great and some not so great (review link for the type of humor main character should have [login to view URL]).
In the beginning stages of the book most of the comedy is based on interactions with the one night stand women, the main character is waking up with. His night outings consist with his three best friends.
Friend 1--Former athlete in late 20's, who eats a lot to maintain his "beef cake" muscle image. As it is all about the carbs.
Friend 2-- Young Seth Rogan feel. He is able to talk to women, but is quirky and women seem to love him as he has a great personality and is funny as hell. Has a very crude sense of humor.
Friend 3----Caught up in his Corporate world as he is just starting his careerl. He also is not focused on the night life and his friends have to drag him out for a good time.
Now the gist of the story is all the Friend's grow into adult hood leaving the main character behind, as he still loves the single life. It is some what a typical comedy, however the Main character does not meet his "Love of his life" and does not end up with the family life.
Eventually as his friends get married one by one and have kids and start a family. He slowly loses touches with them as their interest have changed and they have out grown the night life, but the Main character has not. 10 years have gone by with no contact with his former friends, but one year he slowly runs into each friend one by one in different places. All his friends are nothing as they appeared before. Friend 1, who was once muscular is now fat and mid 30's. As his appetite has not changed but his daily workout routine has, as he no longer has time to work out due to the family life. Friend 2, has started an indoor play house business for toddlers and has lost much of his hair. His humor has also changed, as he is very much all about the kids and is no longer that crude sense of humor. He instead is very "Nickelodeon" type of comedy, and now corrects you when your sense of humor gets out of line around the kids. Last, Friend 3 has climbed to the top of the corporate latter and is wound tighter than ever. He has a trophy wife and wonderful kids, but is disconnected with his family as he is still 100% percent focus on his work. In amidst all of this, the main character has retained his great looks and looks like he never aged. His friends are amazed and some what envious. Not only has he maintain his looks, but he still has the single life and is having sex with mid 20's early 30's women who are beautiful. He has a successful ecommerce business he runs from home and has the flexibility to wake up when he wants and to do what he wants; he is much a free spirit.
The story line ends up getting to where all his friends are able to get a week off of work just to all hang out and have fun once again. Through that time they all re-live their youth and realize how much the miss that life single life style. They all want to be like the main character and just talk about how great his life is. Of course there is a lot of comedy in between as they no longer look like they due and the dating scene has changed since the last time they were out. By the end of the book the Main character brings all his friends to reality and lets them know that they all have a great life at home and tells them each the positives in their life and how great their life has become. Main character admits that family life was never meant for him as he never could see himself as a family man or with kids, but doesn't mean their life is less meaningful. They all come to a realization that they are happy where they are and are lucky to have what they have in life. At the end of the book, they all leave going their separate way, and they go on with their same lives, but are content with it and happier than ever.
