ABSTRACT

Objective -To compare the survival impact on patients who underwent extensive (Ultra radical surgery) verses the similar group of patients who were deemed in-operable.

Method: - Retrospective Study and the cohort of consecutive patients who underwent surgeries at cancer Institute, Adyar (WIA) Chennai.

We identified patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (FIGO stage III/IV) who were treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy platinum and taxane , 3-6 cycles during period of January 2011 to December 2012, were included in the study (total 55 patients ). One group of patient deemed in-operable due to extensive disease was treated with chemotherapy alone and followed up. Other group underwent extensive radical surgery (optimal cytoreduction), completed adjuvant chemotherapy and follow up for 40 months.
