I registered with Freelancer in February last year and have 131 reviews, all positive. English is my first language and my skills include technical writing, editing, proofreading, and transcribing. My technical writing training included the writing of manuals and I have edited a number of training manuals, including for the security firm at Auckland University, the NZ Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and a local health provider. In February this year I took on a role as the copy editor for The International Journal of Wellbeing, an online journal, and this year I have also begun as the copy editor for the Blind Foundation of New Zealand. One of my earlier projects with Freelancer was to edit a 65,000-word science fiction novel, and the client was so pleased with my work that he commended me to Freelancer, and an article about me was published by Freelancer. For two years I was a copy editor for Elsevier Science Publishers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, rewriting text by authors who were not native English speakers. I have worked with individual clients to bring more than 20 books to publication and five of these clients have rehired me to work on further books. Having been a teacher of English in high school for four years, I have spent many hours making corrections and suggestions for students' essays. For an additional two years I was a teacher of English as a second language.
