OVERVIEW

Person(s) needed to download and organize a large number of press releases (likely more than 10,000).

Please bid to process 300 press releases. We will select more than one provider initially. It is our goal to find one or more good performers to award the remaining estimated 10,000. We will base our assessment on cost, accuracy, and reliability.

If you perform as promised, we will also be eager to use you for additional work in the future of a similar data-entry nature (we have a long list of other startup tasks like this as well as steady, ongoing work).

Since we expect to select more than one provider for a paid trial of 300 press releases, please post your contact information by PM so we can get started with you if we select your bid.

TASK OUTLINE

More detailed instructions covering all aspects of the job will be delivered to selected provider.

You will be provided with a list of pages on various websites that link to press releases.

For each press release on those pages, you will:

1. Create a folder

2. Create a file within that folder.

3. Cut and paste body text and a few select attributes into that UNIX-format ASCII text file in a defined format. Attributes include date, headline, company name, URL, captions, and contact. You will use twiki syntax where required to maintain any formatting of the body (e.g. headers, bulletted lists, tables); this is rare in the sample of press releases we examined and requires no prior knowledge (documentation will be provided).

3. Download and store images from the press release in the same folder.

4. Create a separate file in a separate folder for each contact reference. Contacts are typically shared among a large number of press releases, so this will need to be done rarely (maybe 1 out of every 50 to 200 press releases).

This is basically a quick cut-and-paste job, though care must be taken with attribute file names, syntax, spacing, and carriage returns. We do not believe automation will be viable, even in assistance to manual effort. But we do not care how you deliver the defined result.

PREFERENCES

Please differentiate yourself from other service providers by mentioning other similar work you have done in the past and any other relevant qualifications.

Preference will be given to service providers who offer credible evidence of their ability to establish a relationship of reliable ongoing service provision, since that is what we seek.

Based on having performed these tasks on a sample of press releases ourselves in order to refine the instructions, we recommend bids from $50 to $150 per 300 press releases. Please post your bid amount regardless of this guidance.

Please post any questions to PM. We look forward to your bids!
