The open source project Websockify has a 'record' option in their python version that outputs data to a file that can be read by noVNC to playback a recording for testing. This project is about Raspberry Pi 3 audio. Requirement is to create a configuration, kernel device driver and .dts, for a codec device attached to Raspberry Pi 3 board's I2S. The codec device will have concurrently playback and capture. Codec used is CS4270 and it is already supported in mainline Linux. Thus what is needed is the creation of a machine driver that will reside in sound/soc/bcm and the matching .dts overlay for this. Deliverables of this work are the kernel driver sources and device tree .dts files.
