Contest Brief

LandDNA, LLC needs to convert its existing excel/google sheet database to a real database. Each row is a record. Our records are either plots of land that have recently sold, or they are for sale. Each column is an attribute of the piece of land. We enter about 100 columns. The cells contain strings, integers, numbers or images/videos. The data is then used by us in the office to search for comps based on characteristics like location, water feature, size, cover, slope, access, tree type, tree height, etc. We also use it to generate reports, statistics, and pretty map decks for a particular property. We want everyone to be able to search for land for sale with more detail in the criteria, and a uniform set of data & maps for the parcels for sale. Wouldn't it be cool to know the tree types and heights for everywhere? Watershed, Geological formation/age, land type, eco landscape, the list goes on. It would also help educate the market in terms of economic trends, ecological values, and this is helpful for agents, owners and buyers. We have created those maps from publicly available sources, some paid sources, and want to share it. This will be like the Zillow of land, except on steroids. We need to change this from a sheet-based program to a real database & GIS so we can interact with it on a website/map. Once I do that, we want to launch a Sauk County version for people to use for free, and see how it goes, maybe tweak it. When we find a way to make money off it, we will put all profits to local land conservation. It makes for a hell of a marketing edge, too. We have been appraising land in Wisconsin since 2003, and are known by many to be the best/most thorough land appraisers in the state.

I added a sample of the database which is the first sheet. The second sheets work properly only when using google sheets, as the pictures will not display in the excel program. This sheet I uploaded was converted from a google sheet.
