Contest Brief

Hi

I’ve completed my E-book and am looking for a cover design quite similar to the example I attached. You’re of course free to use your imagination with the example, perhaps create your own interpretation of the design if you wish but the attached example is the general idea I’m going for. But please don’t copy it too precisely as I don’t want to be accused of being a copy cat or plagiarism or whatever.

Important NOTE: I will give full 100% credit in the novel to the chosen designer and will even go so far as to create a separate cover reveal post on my facebook page that credits the designer and am willing to tag or include the website of that designer, whatever you need to get noticed if you wish to be. My budget may be small, I apologise for that, but I am not afraid to give full credit where credit is due.

Again, I sincerely apologise one last time for the small budget because as an artist I understand the hours of work that goes into a project and I deeply value any help someone would be able to offer.

Specs of the cover must include:

TITLE of book: Soot

Author title: Jenelle Esra

Smaller subtitle/blurb: Sometimes the dark brings out the light in people.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

The wolf MUST be black with, if possible, red eyes

The girl (if you include one) must also be carrying an axe if possible but please NO RED JERSEY or RED ELEMENT TO THE GIRL because this is not a Red Riding Hood story :-), maybe give her wavy hair or something (just a suggestion, not trying to be demanding here)

If there can perhaps be a dark, black, pine trees or snow element to the background it would be great because the story is set in Alaska where it goes dark for 30 days

It’s a YA fantasy story so try and stick to that genre’s general look and feel

I’m not looking for anything spectacular or too time consuming, just simple design like the example I attached, it must have that sort of sketched, silhouette kind of look and feel

Employer Feedback

“This designer has somehow managed to perfectly capture the mood of my story without even having read it and that's what I found amazing. I look forward to self-publishing my first book and will be proud to publish it with this cover. Lastly, thank you for being willing to design such a pretty cover under a very tight budget. Thank you! ”
