Contest Brief

Need to make a power source that can produce constant 5V 2A using a open Current Transformer. The power will be used to charge a 18650 2600 mAh battery... Or to power micro USB powered devices.

The Transformer will be clipped at the main power in a house 240V, 10 - 100A, The current is not constant

How would you be sure that the entries submitted here are workable? This project requires using Magnetic Flux created by high current flow in the Primary to induce current in secondary that can be matched with an Equivalent burden resistance to create same frequency voltage. Which would later be rectified to get some DC voltage. However to recharge 18650 Li type cells you need to incorporate some logic/Microcontroller.......so only hardware design would not guarantee its workability.

Maybe a silly question but I just want to be sure. You are opening CT casing and using it as a regular voltage transformer right? I mean connected between phase and ground and not in series with the circuit as a CT.
