Contest Brief

I would like to create a range of military vehicle scale models. But lets start with one.

I am looking for a more down to earth (not sci-fi, no lasers, no fusion reactors and stuff), alternative WW2, what-if scenario type of tank-inspired vehicle.
Bipods, quatdopod walkers are welcome along with alternative kind and/or types of tracks, and combinations of those.
This is a good example to start with (http://www.modelcollect.com/fist-of-war-german-wwii-sdkfz-553a-medium-fighting-mech-2).

It should be totally far from the aesthetics of :

- Gunpla

and very close to those of :

- Maschienen Krieger
eg
- http://www.maschinenkrueger.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=136:schwerer-raketenwerfer-85-sphinx&catid=5:sdr&Itemid=12
- http://www.maschinenkrueger.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=141:udk-38-schenkle&catid=16:in-progress&Itemid=6
- and Dust
eg
- https://dustgame.com/product/k-ax705-loki-trop-loth-trop-model-kit/
- https://dustgame.com/product/k-ax711-jagdluther-jagdwotan-model-kit/
- https://dustgame.com/product/k-ax802-stummel-model-kit/

A modeler that is going to paint and weather it, should be able to enjoy chipping/dusting/mudding/chipping and applying different camouflage on it.
Imagine a battered Tiger or T34 ww2 tank in the eastern front but in a reality that is more steam/diesel punk.

Ideally, it could have a lot of visual interest on it like:

- hatches,
- antennas,
- rivets,
- field improvised armour
- parts of cast armour
- sloped armour
- visible engine compartment,
- exposed cables for the mechanical parts (eg hydraulic legs)
- exhausts
- mounted smoke grenade launchers
- open crew compartment
- etc

also the weapons system that it will be carrying will be in the range of:

- MLRS (multiple rocket launcher system)
- multiple machine guns (like AA guns)
- double barrels
- etc
- and combinations of the above

I could see it being in the 1/35 scale (based on the already existing scale models).
Around 10-15 cm height and length.
On the complexity of the assembly, we could create as little parts as needed at first (eg 2 separate legs, 1 torso, 2 separate guns) and then revisit it for adding assembly steps (eg 10 different parts to assembly one leg).

Questions and clarifications are expected. It will be designed with continuous communication with me and feedback on any iteration.

Images for inspiration are attached.

Hello! I've just found this contest, and feel like I'd be able to produce a design for a mech that meets your expectations. However, I may not be able to meet the deadline that you have created for this project. I'd really appreciate you reaching out to me to discuss my possible involvement. Thank you!

Hello! I just found your contest and it really seems like a very interesting project!
I think there is a lot that could be contributed but the prize is quite low, € 100 I would charge for a project like this directly awarded, in my opinion, leaving aside whether I will enter or not, I think you could get a greater number of tickets and more professional jobs raising the prize of your contest (not the € 100 of course, it is not my request), it is just a little advice that I think could help you get many better entries!
    Regards!

Hello Jesus. Thank you for the feedback. This is my first project on this platform and I did not have experience on the work needed and how much to set as compensation. I would not have a problem to raise the amount as long as the result is what I am looking for. Also, I was looking for some guidance and input from experienced 3D artists , but the majority of the entries are free models that people copy/paste from websites like thinkiverse! Would you be interested in it?

This could really work well as project but not as a contest.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. This is my first ever project/contest on this platform. I have zero experience on the process. Would you give me more details and/or a project that is currently running to review?
I would like to make life easier for every artist and better communicate what I have in mind.

For a bipod mech these two examples are excellent

Let's start with simple designs and iterate. No need for it to be complete from the beginning. Also, I find that a four legged walker would be visually better as a first.

Moreover, as this is going to be a scale model that will be assembled, it will need to be comprised of several parts. So I will need the final file to not only have one solid body. I am (or a 3D modeller here) going to make customisations afterwords so I need the design to be modular and customisable.

Also, the final file should be appropriate for 3D printing. I am no expert on this. I would like your suggestions.

Hello Indranil. No, it will be intended for assembly with liquid cement or glue. However, it would be good for basic parts (like the weapons systems, turret) to be able to be positioned in any angle on their mounted axis.
